Dr. Abad Ali joined the Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) as an Assistant Professor in 2018. He received his B.Sc (Hons.) degree in Chemistry in 2009 and M.Sc. degree in 2011 with specialization “Organic Chemistry” from the Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Later, he joined Prof. Shamsuzzaman's research group at the Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, and completed his Ph.D. on “Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of steroidal heterocyclic compounds” in 2016. Dr. Ali has significantly contributed to basic research based on designing novel steroidal compounds substituted by heterocyclic moieties using different types of reagents. During his tenure, he also worked on the synthesis of benzodiazepine derivatives was accomplished using graphene and silica-based nanocomposites (Gr/TiO2 and NiO/SiO2).

After completion of his Ph.D., he joined Dr. Benudhar Punji’s research group as a National Postdoctoral Fellow (NPDF) at CSIR-NCL, Pune in 2017. During this project, he worked on non-symmetrically modified pincer ligand complexes for cross-coupling reaction of indole-based compounds”. He has been awarded joint IASc-INSA-NASI fellowship by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, India under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed Kamal, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi India in 2020. His current research interest mainly focused in the direction to address unresolved fundamental questions concerning the activation and functionalization in heterogeneous catalysis of challenging, inherently unreactive C-H bond for cross-coupling reaction of biologically important molecules (like benzimidazole, benzothiazole, benzoxazole, benzopyranone, and benzothiophene) by reactive ligands in combination with transition metals (like Pd, Pt, Ni, Ru, and Rh). His research works published in various international reputed journals.
