Dr. Mohammad Nazrul Bari is an Associate Professor in the Department of History, Centre of Advanced Study (CAS), Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh (UP). He specializes in Ancient Indian History and Archaeology. Prior to joining AMU, he taught at the Central University of Karnataka, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and the University of Kashmir.
He is a recipient of the prestigious Nicholas Lowick Memorial Fund Award from the Royal Numismatic Society, London, which supported his research work at the British Museum and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Dr. Bari has also participated in academic activities in Iran, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
With numerous publications in reputed national and international journals, his research primarily focuses on the socio-economic and cultural aspects of early Indian history. He is the author of the book Material Life of Northern India (c. 600 BCE–300 BCE) in 2017 and the editor of three volumes:
