The Centre of Advanced Study Department of History as part of its outreach programme conducted a One Day Workshop of Students on "Recent Trends in History Writing”. It was a means of an Interaction between students at AMU and the students of Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University. The workshop was conducted at CAS in History AMU on Saturday, 10th February 2018. Around 50 students along with their teachers Dr. Amita Paliwal and Dr. Richa Raj arrived at the History Department, Aligarh at around 10 AM. After being served with tea and refreshments the students were introduced to the workshop by Chairman and Coordinator Professor Syed Ali Nadeem Rezavi, who told them about the work and research that has been and is being conducted at the CAS Department of History. The first lecture on "Akbar and Sulh-i Kul" was delivered by Professor Shireen Moosvi followed by a tea break. The second lecture was given by Prof. Irfan Habib on "Recent Trends in History Writing', where he elaborated on the different schools of thought and their approaches towards history and history writing. After this they were given a Round of the Department and told about its resources and library. Lunch was served to the students and participants of the workshop. The second half of the day involved a tour of the university campus which started at the University Museum, the students then visited the Sir Syed House & Academy and the last stop of the tour was the old structures of M.A.O. College Campus: Jami Masjid, Sir Syed's grave, Victoria Gate, Strachey Hall etc, where Prof. S.A. Nadeem Rezavi gave a detailed description of the architectural features of the structures and its historical significance. The students then returned to the Department and were provided with certificates and two books from the Department for their participation This was followed by tea and departure of the delegation from Jesus and Mary College.
