Sheeba Hamid is Professor, Coordinator & Training and Placement Officer of Masters Programme in Tourism at Aligarh Muslim University. She was a Visiting Faculty at the University of Goa. Her two recent research papers entitled “Behavioral Intention of Traveling in the period of COVID-19: An application of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Perceived Risk” and "Coronavirus: Choking Global and Indian Tourism Economy and Leaving Industry on the Ventilator", recently published in International Journal of Tourism Cities and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights respectively, Emerald Publishing, United Kingdom, indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and ABDC have been recognised by World Health Organization (WHO) and they have been listed under Global Literature on Coronavirus disease.
The author of five books (including the first
ever compilation of solved question papers cum guide to
NET/JRF/Assistant Professor Eligibility examination in Tourism Administration
and Management) and forty research papers on various aspects of Tourism,
she has prepared study material for Open Universities and Distance Education Centers
in India. She regularly delivers
sessions on gender related aspects at UGC Human Resource Development
Centre, AMU. Sheeba is a keen
researcher, prolific speaker and a skilled academia-industry event manager (organised
national and international conferences, training programmes, students fest,
handled delegations), besides being actively involved in University
Administration.
She is Member of National
Rural Tourism Council at WICCI (Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and
Industry). Presently, she is Provost of Indira Gandhi Hall for Girls at AMU,
responsible for residential arrangements of 600 girls. She has served
as Assistant Dean Students’ Welfare, AMU, and Nodal Officer, UGC Online
Grievance Redressal Portal. She is a member of committees (including NAAC
and Discipline Committee) working on different aspects of AMU, Aligarh.
She was also Joint Secretary of
National Executive Committee of Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress. She is
member of the AMU Women’s Club, a non-profit social welfare organization for
women, and currently holding the position of its Treasurer. She is also an
Allied Member of Indian Food Tourism
Organisation.
She has delivered more than 100 invited talks in various academic events across India. She is associated with a number of universities in various academic assignments. She is a regular resource person at various national and international conferences. She is member of several editorial boards of Journals, Research Committees, Selection Committees, and Boards of Studies, Conference Advisory Committees in Tourism and also a Counselor for Tourism Programmes at IGNOU. She has also conducted AMU Entrance Test Examination (Engineering, Graduation) at outside centers (Lucknow and Srinagar) as member/team leader. She has won awards for Best Speaker, Best Paper and Insight award in various conferences and has several honours to her credit too. She has featured amongst the 100 Muslim Women of Uttar Pradesh in the, Achieving Academic Excellence segment by RBTC, Rising Beyond the Ceiling, An initiative to Shine a Spot Light on Indian Muslim Women: Their Leadership and Contributions in the Independent India. Besides this, she leads an active corporate and social life. She is a keen traveller, connoisseur of literature, culture, art, cuisine and costumes.
