Yoga Club
As a part of International Day of Yoga (IDY), 2025 Department of Higher Education, Government of India instructed to Aligarh Muslim University to conduct certain signature events (D.O No.29/2/2025 S&S dated 18th March, 2025. In this regard Ministry of Ayush has planned certain signature activities earmarked for Department of Higher Education and its autonomous bodies as a 100 days countdown to IDY. For materialize these activities Dr.Muhammed Haris.C. Assistant Professor, Education Department assigned as teacher in charge for IDY celebration at AMU Centre Malappuram.
A workshop conducted along with National Service Scheme on the topic Yoga for stress free life entitled Yoga Unplugged on 20/04/2025 at the Moot Court Hall of the campus. The event was organized as a signature event of International Day Yoga Celebration (IDY) 2025. Dr.Raghul V Rajan, NSS Program officer chaired the inaugural session. Dr.Muhammed Haris.C, incharge teacher of IDY celebration served as resource person. Awareness lecture and practical session of various asanas demonstrated. Further, all the participants downloaded the two yoga apps of the Ministry of Ayush, Namaste Yoga App and Y Break App and enrolled in it.
A yoga club for the campus with Aftab Alam as president and Minam Mohammad Shamsi as secretary was instituted in the workshop for sustaining the practice among the students. Twenty seven students participated in the workshop and awarded the certificates of participation to all the students.
On 21st June 2025, Yoga club celebrated International Day of Yoga 2025 along with NSS Unit in collaboration with Winner’s Martial Arts and Sports Academy, Perinthalmanna at the Moot Court Hall of the campus. Yoga for One Earth, One Health is the motto of the program. Several officials of the university centre and students participated.
Yoga club secretary and volunteer member visited two designated locations in Kerala by the Government of India for participation in Yoga sangam at Bolgatty Palace, Kochi and Uday Palace Convention Centre, Thiruvananthapuram organized by the Ministry of tourism, Government of India. Mr.Mohd Minam Shamsi(Yoga Club Secretary ) along with Mr.Nadim Akther (yoga club member) participated at Bolgatty palaceand Ms.Afina.S.S attended the event at Uday Palace.
Yoga Club collaborated with NSS Unit in the ICPR (Indian Council of Philosophical Research) sponsored Lecture on Yoga for Health and Happiness at the moot Court Hall of the campus as part of International Yoga Day Celebrations. Welcome address was extended by Dr.Raghul V Rajan, Program Officer of the NSS Unit. The program was formally inaugurated by Director of AMU Centre Malappuram. Mr.Mohd Ahazam Khan, Assistant Registrar, extended his greetings for the event. Following the inaugural session, a special class on the theme “Yoga for Health and Happiness’ was delivered by Dr.Mithun C, Medical Officer at Government Siddha Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. A practical yoga training session was also conducted under the guidance of Ms. Sulochana, Yoga Instructor, National Ayush Mission. The programme concluded with another insightful session by Dr.Muhammed Haris C, Assistant Professor at AMU Centre, Malappuram. The program gives insights and awareness to the participants
Yoga club of Aligarh Muslim University started a free online yoga class in morning and conduct various competition as a part of International Yoga Day Celebration such as Article writing, paper presentation, posture video competition of Yoga. This club also made attempt for online campaigning through social media for spreading the health awareness and fitness lesson through yoga.
