Nss Unit

National Service Scheme (NSS) is a noble academic extension programmeby the Government of India. ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’ is the motto of NSS. It is an educational programme for the all-round development of students through community service.

According to the NSS Manual 2006 its objectives are to: 

  1. understand the community in which they work

  2. understand themselves in relation to their community;

  3. identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process;

  4. develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility;

  5. utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems;

  6. develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities;

  7. gain skills in mobilizing community participation;

  8. acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude;

  9. develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and

  10. practice national integration and social harmony

Vide Order Number A2/184/2022/1/NSS dated 07.11.2022 Kerala State NSS Office sanctioned one NSS Unit at AMU Centre Malappuram. On 23 November 2023, Shri. Najeeb Kanthapuram MLA of Perinthalmanna Assembly Constituency inaugurated the NSS Unit of AMU Centre Malappuram by hoisting the NSS flag. The Unit conducts regular activities of community service and seven days special camp annually as per instructions of the State NSS Office and Regional Directorate of NSS, Kerala. Currently Dr. Faisal K. P. is the Programme Coordinator of NSS Cell and Dr. Raghul V. Rajan is the Programme Officer of the Unit at the Centre.
