Dr. Bodhendra Kumar

Dr. Bodhendra Kumar is Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Aligarh Muslim University, where he has been a permanent faculty member since 2016. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from AMU, with a doctoral thesis on Buddhist Ethics and world peace in the Theravāda tradition, alongside a Master's in Philosophy and Religion from Madurai Kamaraj University and a Bachelor's in Information Technology from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. He qualified the UGC-JRF as an All India Topper in Philosophy (2012) and holds UGC-NET in both Philosophy and Public Administration.

His research stands at the intersection of Buddhist Philosophy, Applied Ethics, Peace Studies, and Inter-religious Dialogue. He has published on topics ranging from the ethics of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta and Gandhian conflict resolution to the comparative philosophy of Islamic and Buddhist community life. His work has been presented at international forums in Thailand, Bangladesh, and India, and he has served as a resource person on Human Rights, Value Education, and National Education policy.

At AMU, Dr. Kumar has contributed extensively to academic governance — serving on curriculum, editorial, and integrity committees, leading IT initiatives across the Faculty of Arts, and organising national seminars on Interfaith Dialogue (2026) and Multifarious Trends in indian Ethics (2018). He teaches across levels, from Classical Indian Philosophy, Applied Ethics and Buddhist thought at the postgraduate level to Comparative Religion, Ethics, and Political Philosophy at the undergraduate level.
