Nazrin B. Laskar earned her MPhil and Ph.D. from University of Delhi. Her research interests include language variation and change, language contact, pidgin and creole studies, language politics, morpho-syntax,  Dialectology and Cognitive Sociolinguistics. She is primarily focused on studying tense, mood, and aspect in contact languages or minority languages within multilingual settings and language contact situations. She co-authored two books, The Linguistic Identities of the Milky Shaikhs in India: A myth or reality  and The Structure of Ganderbal Kohistani:From a Multilingual Perspective, both of which are published from Lincom Europa (München, Germany). She has published widely, with numerous research papers appearing in reputable journals and edited volumes. Her selected publications include a co-authored book chapter in Variation in Indigenous Minority Languages (IMPACT: Studies in Language and Society 25), published by John Benjamins (Amsterdam/Philadelphia), and two contributions to North East Indian Linguistics, published by Cambridge University Press (New Delhi). She has prepared the e-texts of “Quantitative Sociolinguistics” for e-PG Pathshala Programme in Linguistics (Inflibnet). She was one of the editors of Aligarh Journal of Linguistics (included in UGC CARE LIST) from 2014-25. She is a member of the Publication Committee of Indian Linguistics, Journal of the Linguistic Society of India. 

She has presented papers at 22 international and 8 national conferences, including the NWAV Asia-Pacific I (Delhi University, 2011), NWAVE 37 (Rice University, Texas, 2008), NWAVE 32 (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, 2003), the International Symposium on Bilingualism 8 (Oslo University, Norway, 2011), the 9th and 24th Himalayan Languages Symposia, and the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics (SPCL) annual conference (INALCO, Paris, June 28–30, 2021).

She had supervised seven PhD and one MPhil dissertations. She and her team of research students are engaged in the study of minority languages and contact languages in multilingual contexts in India. She is also engaged in research on language comprehension patterns of visually impaired children from Cognitive Sociolinguistic framework. As convener of the Department -FYUP committee, she played a pivotal role in designing and implementing the Four Year Undergraduate Program in the Department. She serves as peer reviewer for several prominent journals, including Asian Ethnicity (Routledge), Indian Linguistics (LSI), Bulletin of the Department of Linguistics, (University of Calcutta), Deccan Bulletin, (Deccan College, Pune) and Vaak Manthan, (Society for Endangered and Lesser - Known Languages).
