Apart from teaching and research, a candidate with Ph.D. degree in linguistics can also pursue his/her career in Language teaching, Information technology, Speech pathology, Translation, Language documentation, and other interdisciplinary areas.

• Formulate and test hypothesis that advance linguistic theory in various domains of Linguistics.
• Conduct methodologically rigorous field works, build annotated corpora and digital archives.
• Apply advance qualitative and quantitative methods, statistical tools and computational techniques for linguistic analysis.
• Address real world problems in areas such as language pedagogy, translation, lexicography, NLP using theoretically grounded frameworks. 
• Uphold ethical protocols in research, ensure community participations and advocate for linguistic human rights.
