Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani is presently working as Associate Professor in Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India since December 2020. Earlier he had worked as Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and Department of Energy and Environment, TERI University, New Delhi, India. He has teaching, research and industry experience of 15 years. Presently he is taking subjects at undergraduate and post graduate levels in the area of Electrical Power Systems, Power Station Practice, HVDC and FACTS Devices, Renewable Energy, Power System Planning and Reliability, Power System Analysis, Restructuring and Deregulation of Power System, Switchgear and Protection etc.

Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 2005, M.Tech in Energy Studies from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, in 2007, Ph.D. from Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), New Delhi, India in 2014 in the area of Distributed Solar power generation.

Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani has published/presented more than 90 papers in various peer reviewed International conferences and Journals including IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, Scientific Research Publishing (USA) etc. He has also visited Open University, Milton Keynes, United Kingdon under UKIERI grant in June 2012. Varna, Bulgaria for presenting his paper in IEEE-PEMC 2016 and Ottawa Canada to attend the 2017 international conference on Power and Energy Systems in September 2017.

His current research interest includes distributed power generation, solar and wind resource assessment, smart grids, micro grids, grid integration of renewable energy sources, application of intelligent techniques to electrical power systems and Reactive Power Compensation. 

Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani has already guided 04 Ph.D. students, 20 M.Tech thesis, 22 undergraduate projects and presently guiding 07 research scholars. He is also a life member of ICTP.
