Placement of Remote Sensing Students


The Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, continues to achieve academic and professional excellence, with its students securing prestigious positions at leading national and international institutions.

Ms Areena Fatima, a student of the department, has been selected for the PhD programme at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, marking a significant international academic achievement. Another student, Mr Md Zaid Qamar, has secured admission to the International PhD Programme under the UNESCO Chair in Environment, Resource and Sustainable Development at Parthenope University of Naples, Italy, further strengthening the department’s global academic footprint.

At the national level, Mr Ahsan Sayeed has been selected for the PhD programme in Geomatics at IIT Guwahati, one of India’s premier technical institutions. Additionally, three students — Ms Mantash Basheer, Mr Tauheed Alam Ansari, and Mr Zuhail Abdullah — have been selected as Junior Resource Persons at the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee, reflecting their strong technical and research capabilities in geospatial and water resources domains.

In the corporate sector, Ms Juveriya Aqeel has been selected by WPS, a multinational company based in Bengaluru, with an impressive remuneration package, highlighting the department’s success in producing industry-ready geospatial professionals.

Dr Haris Hasan Khan, the Chairman, congratulated all selected students and wished them continued success in their academic and professional journeys. These achievements underscore the department’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and skill development in Remote Sensing, GIS, and allied geospatial sciences.

Remote Sensing students qualify GATE 2024

Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing & GIS Applications, Aligarh Muslim University students have qualified the prestigious Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), in the field of Geomatics Engineering, conducted by the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru (ISc).

The name of students are as follows: 

        1. Ms Sana Parveen (AIR 152)
        2. Mr Mohd Alam (AIR 209)
        3. Mr Asdaf ur Rehman (AIR 504) 

The chairman, Dr Haris Hasan Khan, congratulated the selected students on their success and termed it a testimony of their hard work, dedication and guidance offered by the faculty members.

More than 200 delegates across the world Viz. USA, Switzerland, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka Lebanon and U.K etc. have attended, presented their papers and discussed new current scientific issues like Geospatial Technologies for smart cities. Transforming modern cities- A global perspective, Mapping in real time etc. Thus, it is therefore, an urgent need to introduce Remote Sensing GIS at School level for best state-of-the-art-Technology Transformation for betterment of the Nation skill development.
