Under Graduate Programme

Since the establishment of the Institute of Agriculture by Aligarh Muslim University with the approval of ICAR, It was immediately realized the need for undergraduate programmes in Agricultural Sciences and Technology. With the efforts and cooperation of Faculty members and university authorities, it has become reality to open B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture course initially in the self-finance mode on the pattern of ICAR Guideline.

The course, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture is a 4 years multidisciplinary professional degree programme. The syllabus is very exhaustive and based on ICAR NEP-2020 6th Dean’s committee recommendations of ICAR for the undergraduate programme.

Production of well-acquainted students to enhance agricultural sustainability through research and extension activities is the mandate and goal behind the start-up of this programme. The trained manpower will be contributing considerably in different government organization and private agencies/industry. Some of them will also be able to generate self-employment in various agriculture/horticulture and food sectors.

To be a leading and vibrant center of excellence in teaching, research, innovations and extension for sustainable agriculture and optimizing food production through agronomy, crop protection, food and nutrition, food processing technology, agribusiness, and advanced microbial resource management.

Mission

• To maintain a leadership role in the pursuit of knowledge through relevant and quality teaching, research, training for sustainable development, consultancy and outreach programmes.

  • To develop knowledge based efficient human resources, enhance agricultural productivity, improving agri-business development and food processing and to reduce agrochemical inputs in crop cultivation.

  • To achieve excellence in teaching by designing basic and applied yet futuristic degree programmes that may empower students to contribute at regional, national and global levels to attain satisfying and productive careers.

  • To accomplish the lab-to-land concept by disseminating the package of practices of technologies developed at the Faculty for farmers to enhance agricultural productivity and to improve the quality of human life.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

4. To make the students familiar with socio-economic conditions of the farmers and their problems.

5. To impart diagnostic and remedial knowledge to the students relevant to real field situations through practical training.

6. To develop communication skills, confidence and competence to solve agricultural problems.

7. To acquire enterprise management capabilities for better employment opportunity in Government and private sectors.
