AMU Students Learn Stress-Free Exam Preparation Techniques at VM Hall Workshop A one-day workshop titled “How to Prepare for Examinations without Stress” was successfully organized by the Coaching and Guidance Cell of Viqarul Mulk Hall, Aligarh Muslim University. The workshop aimed to equip students with practical tools to manage examination-related stress, improve time management skills, and promote mental well-being. The event featured expert sessions by Prof. Parvaiz Talib from the Department of Business Administration and Dr. Asif Hasan from the Department of Psychology. The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Naushad Ali P. M., Provost of VM Hall, who stressed the growing importance of mental wellness in academic life and commended such initiatives for fostering student resilience. In his keynote session, Prof. Parvaiz Talib discussed various techniques to handle academic stress, highlighting the importance of effective time management, a balanced daily routine, and attention to both mental and physical health as essential elements for academic success. Dr. Asif Hasan led an engaging session that focused on practical strategies for efficient time management and stress coping mechanisms during examinations. His talk was well received by the audience and provided students with relevant and actionable advice. Mr. Manzoor Ahmad, a senior resident of the Hall, spoke on behalf of the organizing committee and shared further tips on reducing exam anxiety and boosting concentration. Resident students of the Hall participated enthusiastically in the workshop and appreciated the sessions for their practical value and relevance. Viqarul Mulk Hall Celebrates Student Achievements in Sports, Culture, and Research Viqarul Mulk Hall, Aligarh Muslim University, hosted a grand Felicitation and Prize Distribution Ceremony-2025 at the historic Marris Auditorium to honour the outstanding achievements of its residents in sports, co-curricular activities, and academics. The Chief Guest, Prof. Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi, Medical Superintendent of JNMCH, and Secretary of the University Games Committee, commended the athletes for their commitment and urged them to continue striving for excellence. Guests of Honour, Prof. Anwar Shahzad (Department of Botany and President of the University Eco Club) and Dr. Jameel Ahmad (Department of Pharmacology, President of Gymkhana Club), also encouraged students to pursue their passions with consistency, vision, and dedication. Earlier, welcoming the guests, the Provost Prof. Naushad Ali P.M. emphasized the role of co-curricular activities in shaping leadership, character, and a sense of community. He congratulated all the achievers for bringing pride to the Hall. Senior Hall member Mr. Manzoor Ahmad appreciated the unique initiative of organizing such an event in VM Hall, highlighting the transformative value of sports and cultural activities in student life. A highlight of the evening was the celebration of a historic hat-trick by the VM Hall Hockey Team, clinching the Inter-Hall University Tournament title for the third consecutive year. The team members were felicitated with mementoes and Letters of Appreciation for their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship. VM Hall athletes who won Gold and Silver medals in the Inter-Hall Athletics Tournament 2025 were also honoured, along with the winners and runners-up of Bazm-e-Viqar 2025, the Hall’s annual literary and cultural festival. In a special segment, Dr. Faizan Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of Post-Harvest Engineering & Technology and a Warden of VM Hall, was felicitated by Prof. Rizvi for securing three consecutive Indian patents. Celebrating Sporting Excellence: VM Hall Triumphs in Inter Hall Hockey Tournament with a Narrow 1–0 Win over MM Hall Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) once again reaffirmed its deep-rooted sports culture as VM Hall clinched the Inter Hall Hockey Tournament 2024–25 title with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over MM Hall in a thrilling final match. The nail-biting contest, held amidst roaring cheers from students and staff, saw a decisive goal from Mohit, whose clinical finish sealed VM Hall’s championship win. The grand finale, played in a spirited atmosphere, was graced by the presence of Professor Mohd Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of AMU, as the chief guest. In his address, Prof. Khan commended the determination and sportsmanship displayed by both teams and underlined the vital role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, and holistic student development. He urged students to fully utilize the University’s sports infrastructure and participate actively in athletic events. “The passion and commitment we witnessed on the field today are a reflection of AMU’s proud sporting legacy. Athletics not only keep our students physically fit but also nurture resilience and leadership,” remarked Prof. Khan. Following the final whistle, the Chief Guest distributed trophies to the winners and runners-up, while also honouring individual achievers and contributors to the tournament. Special accolades were given to Mr. Radha Charan, Mr. Liaqat Ali, and Mr. Shakil Ahmad of the Hockey Club for their unwavering service and dedication. Professor S. Amjad Ali Rizvi, Secretary University Games Committee in his welcome remarks, lauded the commitment of all participating teams and applauded the seamless organization of the tournament. Echoing Professor Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi President Hockey Club acknowledged the leadership of Mr. Mohd Saif, Organizing Secretary and Captain of the University Hockey Team, for steering the event to success. The match was officiated by Mr. Shah Mohd Rashid and Mr. Matiur Rehman, while Mr. Shamshad Ahmad and Mr. Mashood Alam were felicitated with mementoes for their valuable support. Former Hockey Club member Mr. Athar Ahsan also graced the occasion with his presence. The tournament was held under the supervision of Mr. Anis Ur Rehman Khan, Deputy Director of Physical Education, and Mr. Arshad Mahmood, Assistant Director of Physical Education. Mr. Mohd Rehan Khan was on the technical table. Also present at the event were Dr. Faheem Siddiqui, Mr. Husain Waheed (Former Joint Secretary, UGC), as well as Provosts and Wardens of both VM and MM Halls. They praised the efforts of the organizers in upholding AMU’s sporting spirit and delivering a memorable finale. Report on Bazm-e-Viqar 2025: Annual Cultural and Literary Fest – V.M. Hall, A.M.U. Bazm-e-Viqar 2025, the annual cultural and literary fest of V.M. Hall, Aligarh Muslim University, was organized with great zeal and enthusiasm from 17th to 19th April 2025. The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. M.J. Warsi, Dean, Academic Affairs, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Murad Ahmad Khan (EC Member & Assistant Professor, Department of Foreign Languages, A.M.U.) and Dr. Sawan Kumar Singh (Assistant Professor, Department of Foreign Languages, A.M.U.) as Guests of Honour. The inauguration ceremony began with a ribbon-cutting by the distinguished guests, in the presence of the Provost of V.M. Hall, Prof. Naushad Ali P.M, General Warden Dr. Md Firdos Ahmad, and Warden In-Charge (Cultural & Literary Committee), Dr. Abdul Azeez N.P, along with other wardens of the hall and senior residents. The Cultural Secretary and Literary Secretary of V.M. Hall also played key roles in coordinating and executing the events throughout the fest. In his address, Prof. M.J. Warsi emphasized the importance of cultural heritage and literary engagement in shaping student personalities. Dr. Murad Ahmad Khan spoke about the invaluable exposure and skills students gain through such events. Dr. Sawan Kumar Singh praised the efforts and spirit behind the fest, acknowledging its academic and cultural relevance. The Provost, Prof. Naushad Ali P.M, warmly welcomed all the dignitaries, participants, and residents. He highlighted the educational significance of cultural and literary events, appreciating the dedication of the organizing team. Senior Hall, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad, further reflected on how such initiatives are aligned with the vision of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, promoting the all-round development of students. On the second day, the event was graced by distinguished guests who shared their insights on the importance of cultural engagement. Dr. Farooq Dar, Associate Professor in the Department of Tashreeh wa Munafeul Aza, emphasized the role of cultural programs in shaping students' personalities and encouraging holistic development. Dr. Md. Ehteshamuddin, from the Institute of Persian Research and Assistant DSW, praised the overall execution of the event and commended the students for their excellent performances. Dr. Mohd Amin Mir, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, spoke about the significance of culture in nurturing unity and expression among students. On the final day, the fest witnessed the presence of several esteemed guests, whose words deeply inspired the audience. Prof. F.S. Sherani from the Department of Kulliyat highlighted how participation in cultural events boosts students’ confidence and helps shape their future. Dr. Abdus Samad, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and former Provost of VM Hall, motivated the students with his encouraging words. Dr. Pallav Vishnu, Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Assistant TPO General, spoke about the strong influence of culture on language and identity. Dr. Nawalur Rehman Khan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Amraze Jild wa Zohrawiya, underlined the valuable lessons students learn through such events. Dr. Mohd. Saeem Khan(Assistant Professor, Dept. of Commerce) also motivated and appreciated the presence of large numbers of students who took part in such co-curricular programs.
