Prof.  Naushad Ali P.M is an eminent academician, distinguished researcher, and visionary leader in the field of Library and Information Science. He is currently Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, where he has been contributing for more than 28 years with dedication to teaching, research, and institution building.

His areas of specialisation include Information Management, Knowledge Management, and the application of innovative technologies in libraries. A prolific scholar, Prof. Ali has authored six books and published over 100 research papers in reputed national and international journals and conference proceedings. His commitment to knowledge dissemination is further reflected in his role as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Knowledge and Communication Management, a refereed research journal in the field.

A dynamic academic leader, Prof. Ali served as the Chairman of the Department of Library and Information Science, AMU (2009–2012) and is presently the Provost of Viqarul Mulk Hall. He has delivered more than 100 invited lectures and keynote addresses, chaired numerous technical sessions, and presented around 50 research papers at prestigious national and international conferences. Dr. Ali has also organized over 25 professional events—including international conferences, seminars, and workshops—in various capacities such as Convener, Organizing Secretary, Coordinator, and Director.

Prof. Ali has successfully completed eight major research projects funded by esteemed bodies including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), and the University Grants Commission (UGC). As Deputy Coordinator of the UGC-SAP (DRS-I) project on Knowledge Management in Libraries, he provided visionary direction to the discipline. He is currently leading an ICSSR-sponsored project on Disaster Management in Libraries, Archives, and Museums.

An inspiring research supervisor, Prof. Ali has guided 16 Ph.D. and 2 M.Phil. scholars, and supervised more than 90 MLISc dissertations, shaping the next generation of professionals and researchers. In 2024, he designed and delivered a four-credit SWAYAM online course on IT Applications in Libraries, making significant contributions to e-learning in India.

Prof. Ali’s outstanding contributions have earned him international recognition. He received the prestigious IFLA grant to attend the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Kuala Lumpur (2018), and a special grant to present at the DGI-Online Conference, Frankfurt, Germany (2006). He was awarded the Indo-French Visiting Fellowship (2008) under the ICSSR Cultural Exchange Programme to pursue research in France, followed by the HERMES Postdoctoral Fellowship (2009) for advanced research in Knowledge Management.

Beyond research and teaching, Prof. Ali has significantly contributed to professional knowledge-sharing by developing the Subject Information Gateway in Information and Technology (https://www.itsubjectgateway.info) and the E-learning Portal in Library and Information Science (https://www.lislearning.in), which have benefitted professionals and scholars in more than 130 countries worldwide.

He is also deeply engaged in professional service as a life member of several national and international associations, including the International Council of Knowledge Management (ICKM), International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT), American Society for Research (ASR), International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO), Indian Library Association (ILA – Council Member 2016–19), IASLIC, and IATLIS (Vice President 2021–23).
