Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik has been serving as a Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Law at AMU Centre, Malappuram since 2013, and has been the Coordinator of the Department from 2022 to 2026.

​Currently, he is also holding the post of Deputy Proctor (Proctor at Centre) at AMU Centre Malappuram since August 2025.

He specializes in Constitutional Law and Human Rights, with particular emphasis on Minority Rights and Women’s Rights. Over the years, he has taught a wide range of subjects including Administrative Law, Indian Contract Act, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Criminology, Labour Law, Pleading and Drafting, Women and Law, and Legal Methods.

He has published research articles in reputed legal journals and his work has been cited by recognized academic platforms. His academic profiles can be accessed at Web of Science  and Google Scholar .

Dr. Malik has actively contributed to academic discourse by chairing sessions, delivering invited lectures, and participating in numerous national seminars, conferences, and workshops.

He has played a pivotal role in the development of the Department of Law at AMU Malappuram by founding the Law Society and Moot Court Society, significantly contributing to the practical training and placement of students. He has also organized several academic events, including national webinars, seminars, and more than eight Law Festivals focused on legal competitions.

In recognition of his contributions to legal education and institutional development, he was conferred the AMP National Award for Educational Excellence in 2025 by the Association of Muslim Professionals. He is also a recipient of the Fikr-e-Millat Award by Fikr Foundation, New Delhi, and earlier received a Special Presentation Prize at the Young Scholars Seminar held in Anand, Gujarat, for his paper on “Message of the Upanishad.”

Beyond academics, Dr. Malik has held important administrative roles, including serving as Deputy Proctor for over four years, where he ensured discipline and a conducive academic environment on campus. He has also contributed to enhancing the national visibility of the AMU Malappuram Centre through his active involvement in the Public Relations Committee, In charge. Additionally, he served as the Convener of the Seerat-un-Nabi Committee, organizing socio-religious and moral programs.

During his student years, he held leadership positions such as General Convener/Secretary of the University Club for Short Evening Courses and Senior House Monitor, and actively participated in and won several competitions in public speaking, essay writing, article writing, and skits etc.
