Prof. Md. Abdus Salam began his professional career as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics, AMU in October 1986. Through unwavering commitment and academic excellence, he advanced to the positions of Associate Professor and subsequently Professor of Economics, attaining Professorship on July 27, 2006. After decades of dedicated service, he superannuated from service on January 31, 2024, leaving behind a rich legacy of scholarship, teaching, and mentorship.

Throughout his illustrious career, he taught a diverse range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and played a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring research scholars. His areas of specialization include Mathematical Economics, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, and Human Resource Development—fields in which he made meaningful and lasting contributions.

Prof. Salam has an extensive record of publications in reputed national and international journals, reflecting the depth and breadth of his research. He has actively participated in numerous academic conferences at both national and international levels, contributing not only as a presenter but also as a discussant and rapporteur, particularly in conferences organized by the Indian Economic Association (IEA). Furthermore, he has served as a resource person in several UGC-sponsored refresher courses, sharing his expertise with fellow academics and scholars.
