Huma Hasan has been teaching Women’s Studies for the past fifteen years at the Centre for Women’s Studies. Fifteen years of teaching experience has given her the opportunity to gain vital insights into the discipline of Women’s Studies. During this period she actively participated in organising works shops, plays, film screenings and gender sensitization programmes, health camps for the girls child
and legal advocacy campaigns for women and students of AMU.


Her PhD topic was: ‘Human Rights and the role of the Media: A Study of Muslim Women in India’. 
Other areas of her research interest include Muslim Personal Law and Women’s rights, media discourse and the rights of minorities and  the study of  marginalised women. 
She has worked  as a Research Assistant. Her experience includes both undergraduate , postgraduate teaching, PhD course work classes and supervising PhD students. 

She was a member of MHRDs committee and a nodal teacher. She has also worked for reputed national level  NGOs like  BETI foundation and AALI.. In 2004-2005 she  worked for a research project titled 

'Association for Advocacy and Legal Initiatives, that 
done as a collaboration between 
AALI and 
the TATA group.
