I am working as Professor in the Department of Cardiology, AMU, Aligarh and I have the privilege to be the first Chairman of this newly created Department. Before its upgradation into a Department, I was Director of the Centre of Cardiology & Cardiovascular Research. I have also served as Head of the Department of Medicine, A.M.U.Aligarh. I have more than three decades of teaching, research, clinical and administrative experience with two books, 90 research articles in reputed journals, supervision of 52 M.D Theses, 4 Ph.D theses and 5 research projects to my credit. I have rendered my services to various prestigious universities including the Banaras Hindu University; King Khalid University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and University of Brunei, Darussalam.

I was admitted to MBBS by securing first position in All India Entrance test conducted by AMU Aligarh. I had completed my MBBS from J.N. Medical College AMU, Aligarh in 1983 with gold medal in Medicine. Subsequently, I completed my MD in General Medicine from JNMC, AMU and D.M. Cardiology from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi which included deputation to AIIMS, New Delhi for Interventional Cardiology training. After doing DM Cardiology, I made persistent efforts in developing cardiology services at AMU. With the unstinted support from the University administration, Cardiac Cath labs was established in our Institution in 2016.

In international recognition to my contributions in the field of cardiology I was awarded the prestigious honorary fellowships of the Royal College of Physicians, London

I am privileged to be Fellow of European Society of Cardiology, Fellow of American College Of Cardiology, Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians, Fellow Of Cardiological Society Of India, Fellow of Indian Society of Cardiology and Fellow of International College of Angiology.

I have also been elected several times to many reputed bodies like Cardiological Society of India, Elected as Vice-President Cardiological Society of India, UP chapter (2008 to 2010) and Clinical Secretary, Indian Medical Association, Aligarh (2003 to 2005). I have been on editorial board of various National and international journals of good repute and have served as member of expert Panel for Union Public Service Commission, State Public Service Commission UP and J&K. Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur, Bhopal, Bhuvneshwar etc.

I have also been associated with many Community Health programmes and contributed write-ups in health magazines and newspapers for community awareness about cardiac diseases and have been delivering public lectures and radio talks on health issues for community awareness campaigns. In the past, I have held the post of MIC, University Health office and have been a member of the Academic Council, Aligarh Muslim University and AMU Library Committee.

My vision is to transform the Department of Cardiology, AMU into an apex centre of cardiovascular practice and research in India. It was my dream to start DM course at AMU and I had been pursuing this cause for a long time. With the approval of two DM seats at AMU, I am now striving to ensure that our D.M. Cardiology students get best of cardiology training.
