Department of Cardiology
Cardiology
The foundation of cardiac services at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMCH), Aligarh Muslim University, was laid in the 1980s by Prof. Mohammad Ahmad, an eminent cardiologist whose vision was to establish comprehensive cardiac care at the institution. The Centre of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Research, formally established in 1986, marked a significant step toward realizing this vision.
A major milestone was achieved with the establishment of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) in November 2016 under the PMSSY Scheme. This initiative was led by Former Director of the Center, Prof. Asif Hasan. The Department of Cardiology was formally established on 1st January 2020, following the upgradation of the Centre. Prof. M. U. Rabbani was appointed as the founding Chairman of the Department.
