Department of Plastic Surgery is the superspeciality department in the faculty of medicine conducting a M.C.I. recognized course in M.Ch., Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The intake is through an all India entrance test with four seats per year from the academic session 2013-2014. M.Ch. (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) course is being conducted since 1989 and so far 69 candidates have been awarded the M.Ch. degree by the university. Plastic Surgery was established as a separate department in September 2005. At present the

Department has three faculty members.

Academic activities in the department are held five days a week, involving teachers & residents with Seminars, Journal club, Case presentation/planning sessions and mortality/morbidity meetings. Plastic Surgery runs OPD six days in a week. Besides elective patients in the OPD, it entertains emergencies round the clock, like- burns, road traffic accidents/assaults, faciomaxillary trauma and hand injuries. It has 50 beds for indoor admitted patients out of which eight beds are exclusively meant for major burns patients. It has an elective operation theater with two tables running six days a week and one minor O.T. in OPD block running six days a week. Carl-Zeiss operating microscope is available in the elective OT for microsurgery. Department is in the process of establishing a microsurgery lab.

Our mission is to contribute towards improving the quality of life of individuals by providing cost effective quality medical care and for our residents to learn the art and craft of Plastic Surgery.

Medical Examination Hall Ramps:


  • Accessibility Standards: Ramps are installed to comply with national and local accessibility laws, such as the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation of Rights) Act, 1995, in India.
  • Design and Safety Features: Ramps typically feature a non-slip surface, appropriate handrails on both sides, and a slope not exceeding 1:12 to ensure safety and ease of use.
  • Integration with Other Facilities: In medical institutions, these ramps are integrated with other accessible facilities like lifts (elevators) and specially designed, accessible toilets.
  • Usage in Educational and Clinical Settings: Similar access requirements apply to both educational settings (lecture halls/exam halls) and hospital environments (medical exam rooms/OPD) to ensure inclusive environments for both students and patients

 Students Transport


  • Specialized Student Transport: Specially equipped buses (lifts, ramps, tie-downs) transport students with special health care needs (e.g., wheelchairs, tracheostomies).
  • Medical Care & Emergency Support: School buses often contain first-aid kits and, in some cases, provide a nurse, with staff trained to handle medical emergencies during transit.
  • Health Services & Monitoring: Schools with dedicated transportation may conduct quarterly medical check-ups and maintain medical reports for students with special conditions.
  • Infection Control: Implementing measures like mask-wearing and keeping up-to-date with hygiene standards to reduce virus transmission during daily transport.
  • Emergency Evacuation Planning: Developing and practicing written procedures for quick evacuation in case of fire or accident
