Brief History:
The department was created in the year 2000.
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University is a well-known centre offering a wide range of services for patients. The services provided include treatment of facial injuries, diseases or abnormalities affecting the face, jaws and mouth.
Our team of highly skilled and dedicated surgeons understands the complexities of the maxillofacial and neck region. They are very passionate about their work and their involvement in the care of every patient reflects this.
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery also imparts teaching and training to BDS, MBBS, MDS students. Clinical activities are primarily based at Dr. Z.A. Dental College and Hospital and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. Residents of the department actively participate in all areas of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The postgraduate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a three years(36 months) course and requires the satisfactory completion of didactic and clinical examinations. The department educates postgraduate students to become qualified professionals with enhanced knowledge and competencies to make them successful in the specialized practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Their training also provides them a good understanding of research methodologies and its application.
In addition, the department organizes conferences, workshops, guest lecturers for the up-gradation of knowledge and skill of the professional in maxillofacial surgery. The department annually organizes International Workshop on Cleft Lip and Palate Surgeries in collaboration with Interplast Germany.
A three months training program with the name of " Clinical training in Oral and maxillofacial surgery", a self-financed programme with limited seats is run by the department which has been designed for young dental graduates who wish to develop clinical skills in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The program provides hands on and observation based clinical training which enables the candidates to extend their clinical, diagnostic and treatment skills at the primary level.
