Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was established in the year 2000. The department deals with conditions involving the craniofacial structures which requires surgical intervention with w wide range of surgeries being performed including Maxillofacial trauma Surgery, Orthognathic Surgery, Oral Cancer Surgery, Temporomandibular Joint Surgery, Jaw Tumor Surgery and Cleft lip and Palate Surgery. Besides, the department caters to minor oral surgical procedure needs like dental implant, tooth extraction etc. Since the inception, the department has progressed and now stands as a major centre of  Oral and Maxillofacil Surgical treatment of the state of Uttar Pradesh.  In the past the department has collaborated with University of Turin (Italy), Sohag University (Egypt), Egypt Japan University (Egypt), Semmelweiss University (Hungary), Hamburg University (Germany) for research,  faculty exchange and fellowship programmes. 

The department runs a course of Master of Dental Surgery in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has an intake of three postgraduate trainee resident doctors. Teachiing the undergraduate course pertaining to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and clinical training of undergraduate students in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical procedures is also undertaken by the department.  A clinical observeship program with an intake of maximum four trainees per quarter is also run by the department where dental surgeons trained from other dental colleges get an opportunity to observe Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical procedures being conducted in the department.

The department is equipped with modern surgical equipments and instruments and supports a fully functioning Undergraduate clinic, Postgraduate Clinic, Minor operation theatre, Major operation theatres and Emergency Operation theatre. The department has nine faculty members with exceptional academic and clinical records. The faculty members are involved in collaborative research projects as well as individual research projects apart from performing assigned teaching and clinical duties. 

In an effort to keep pace with the contemporary surgical practice, the department organises various conferences, seminars, workshops and courses from time to time.
