Free Health
Camp At Village Mirzapur, Aligarh on 5th September 2019
The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE),Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with the Department of
Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) organised a 'Free
Health Camp'at AMU's adopted village, Mirzapur, in which over 200 patients were
given free medical advice and medicines. Inaugurating the camp, renowned paediatrician,Dr Hameeda Tariq stressed on organising more such camps in the AMU adopted villages particularly in the months of October, November,
December, January and February. Dr Hameeda also examined patients at the camp. Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Director, CCAEE said that this camp is a part of a series of CCAEE outreach programmes. "A similar camp was organised in the Shah Jamal area of Aligarh recently," he added."Funds for Medicines were contributed by the AMU faculty members," said Professor Aysha Munira Rasheed, Deputy Director, CCAEE.Prof

The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education (CCAEE) and Extension and
the Department of Community Medicine,
, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMCH), Aligarh Muslim University
(AMU)
collaborated to organise a 'Free Health Camp' at Jarothi,
an adopted village of the University to provide health
services and to create an environment where the underprivileged
community gets sensitized about health issues.
Inaugurating the camp, the Chief Guest, Dr Hameeda Tariq,
a renowned paediatrician said that these camps should be held frequently
to create
awareness and to provide counselling on various ailments and diseases.
Dr Hameeda
Hameeda also attended over 50
patients after the inauguration.
Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Director,
CCAEE said that these camps not
only provide villagers
with free health care and information,
but they help in identifying common health
problems persisting in an area with the prevention
and treatment methods.
He said that a similar health
camp would soon be held
at Bhimgarhi
, another
adopted village of AMU.

spare time for community service and often hold health camps for rural and
marginalized section of society. She also examined patients and advised them on
issues pertaining to health and hygiene. Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Director, CCAEE
said it was second such camp organized at village Bhimgarhi , which was adopted
by the Aligarh Muslim University, , along with four other villages some years
ago. Prof Anees Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine) said
these camps are best medium medium to access rural people to educate them
regarding health and hygiene. Professor Aysha Munira Rasheed, Deputy
Director, CCAEE, , suggested that the university education system should adopt community
service through outreach programmes as a mandatory internship for all
undergraduate courses. Dr Shamim Akhtar (CCAEE) also spoke on the occasion. More
than 250 patients received medical advice.and medicine free of cost.

programme on Internet and IT Technology Access entitled ‘Digital India’ at
Jarothi Village in Aligarh District, which is one of the adopted villages of
AMU. Prof Mohammad Gulrez
,Director, Centre of Continuing and Adult Education while inaugurating the
Programme said that this initiative will strengthen the villages and his team
is committed to the vision of Digital India and other schemes for the benefit
of rural people. He further added the government aims to expand the digital
infrastructure to connect the entire country and provide a digital platform for
banking, governance, healthcare and educational services. The Chief-Guest, Mr
Dinesh Chand Singh (Chief Development Officer (CDO, Aligarh) enlightened the
villagers about government Yojnas (Schemes) available for farmers such as life
insurance scheme for farmers. Dr Andaleeb, Assistant Professor, in the
Department of Social Work delivered a talk on outreach programmes carried out
by AMU students and teachers in the adopted AMU villages. She informed the
audience about how AMU students have helped widows and differently-abled people
receive government funds. Dr Andaleeb and Ms Mushrraf Jahan also presented a
report on AMU’s works in the adopted villages. Parvez Ali, District In-charge,
Digital India, Hardayalji Pardhan, Bheemgarhi, and Vishnu Kant Singh spoke on
how technology will be the main enabler of access to quality education,
healthcare and financial services in empowering people in non-urban and rural
areas. They also discussed benefits of various government schemes.Dr Aysha
Munira Rasheed proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Shamim Akhtar conducted
the program.
2. A Legal Literacy Programme was organised in
collaboration with Faculty of Law, AMU for the stakeholders and enrolled
students of CCAEE, AMU in NRSC Club on 12.05.2018.Prof. Mohammad Gulrez,
Director, CCAEE inaugurated the function. Dean, Faculty of Law Prof.
Zaheeruddinwelcomed the audience. Students of law performed a number of
NukkadNataks. Chairman,Faculty of Law Prof Jawed Talib delivered vote of
thanks.

Independence Day was celebrated at Jarothi
Gram Panchayet, Jawan Block on 15.08.2017. Jarothi Gram panchyat is one of the
adopted villages by the Aligarh Muslim University at the direction of Hon’ble
President of India, the Visitor of A.M.U, Aligarh. Prof. Asfar Ali, OSD,
Vice-Chancellor Secretariat and Director of Directorate of Schools, Aligarh
Muslim University, Aligarh was the chief guest. Prof. Syed Noman Ahmad,
Director, Centre of Continuing and Adult Education welcomed all the guests and
dignitaries. Mr. O.P. Sharma the oldest man of the Village chaired the
function. Children of the village sang National anthem on the occasion. Dr.
Shabbar Habib Alvi, Deputy Director thanked the audience. The Programme was
conducted by Dr. Shamim Akhtar, Assistant Professor of the Centre. The
programme was attended by all the office staff members of the Centre.
In
collaboration with Food Craft Institute, an extension programme was organized
at village Jarothi. On this occasion the students of PG Diploma in Dietician,
informed the participating audicience about the importance of health &
child care. Information was also provided about the diet for lactating women
& medical checkup through Nukkad Natak.

Mumtaz Self Help Group
A Self Help Group named Mumtaz consisting of 20 women was formed in the year 2000- to make them self reliant ,having the capacity of decision making for their betterment. The members were provided training in the Transfer of Technology from the Department of Post Harvest Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, AMU. The SHG during more than a decade long journey has maintained its good will through its quality of products . SHGs main customer is the Kitchen of the J.N. Medical College, AMU where the quality of food has considerably improved and the quantity of the spices reduced due of their purity. The whole processes of purchasing of raw material, cleaning, grinding, packing, account keeping, etc. are being done by the women members of the SHG. This has resulted in empowering them and in enhancing their decision making powers. All the decisions are taken collectively in a meeting.
· Pustak Jatha (Caravan of Books)
The purpose behind this activity is to unite and organize people for social transformation by introducing them to authenticate literatute on social issues. Members of the Pustak Jatha take round of the locality singing songs on social issues and motivating the masses to participate in the process of development. They carry books with them and when a sizeable crowd is gathered, one of the members reads out the book, followed by charcha (discussion) on the book.
· Samta Mela (Women?s Science Fair)
The purpose of Samta Mela is to provide a forum for women to express their experiences, concerns and ideas . Another objective of Samta Mela is to disseminate information on different issues pertaining to quality of life improvement and to create scientific temperament, so that they may be liberated from the different myths prevailing in the society. It is conducted through different sessions aimed at improving education, health, nutrition, etc.
· Bal Swasth Mela (Children?s Fair) and Bal Manch (Children?s Group)
The CCAEE conducts Bal Swasth Melas where free health check- up is arranged with the help of doctors from J.N. Medical College. Immunization of mothers and children is also taken up at these melas. Health education is an integral part of each mela.
The Bal Swasth Melas provide an opportunity to organize children in groups so as to engage them in purposeful, effective and positive activities- addressing the different social issues of national and international concern, like national integration, environment and gender etc. Games, reading of books (vaachan) and group discussion are the main activities of Bal Manch.
