Aligarh Journal of Linguistics (AJL) is a flagship journal of the Department of Linguistics in Aligarh Muslim University. AJL is peer-reviewed and included in the UGC CARE list. AJL welcomes submissions from all branches of linguistics(phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics) including historical linguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, sociolinguistics, language teaching, cognitive linguistics, language documentation, computational linguistics and other applied disciplines. Preferences, however, is given to original research papers based on sound empirical work or theoretical constructs that contributes to our understanding of language as a cognitive as well as a social phenomenon. AJL offers a forum for research on lesser-known languages of India in particular and Asia in general. It aims to serve as a leading source of novel ideas in contemporary linguistics emerging from South Asia.

In addition to original research papers, AJL publishes book reviews and overview articles as well. A section on Notes and Discussion is also included in AJL.

Academic quality, scholarly rigor and novel contributions to scholarship are the only criteria that is applied in the selection of papers accepted for publication. The language of submission and publication is English. AJL uses a double-blind peer review model. The identities of both the peer reviewers and the authors are kept hidden. AJL does not charge any fees for submission. Authors should strictly adhere to the stylesheet of AJL. Papers which do not follow the AJL stylesheet will not be considered for review.
