Shereen Sadiq is a Professor at the Department of Sociology, Aligarh Muslim University. For her Pre-doctoral and Doctoral work, she conducted empirical research on the women inmates of Tihar Jail, New Delhi and Aligarh District Jail. Thus, women prisoners constitute the focus of her area of research. She has a rich experience of conducting empirical research on the women inmates of Tihar Jail, New Delhi and Aligarh District Jail. She has contributed a good number of research papers in leading journals such as International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences (IJCJS), Indian Police Journal (IPJ), Indian Journal of Human Rights and the Law, etc. and chapters in edited books. She has also authored a book on women undertrial prisoners entitled 'Women and Bail'.

She is the Director of the outreach program entitled, ‘WAFI - Welfare Actions for the Incarcerated’, which commenced in 2017. The program is being funded by the Azim Premji Foundation, since 2024.
