Dr. Parvez Qamar Rizvi is professor in the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. He did his graduation (B.Sc. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry), Post graduation (M.Sc. Agriculture in Entomology) and Ph.D (Major:Entomology , Minor: Plant Pathology) from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India. Dr. Rizvi started his career as lecturer at Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in January 1989 and then joined Division of Entomology, Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu and Kashmir as Assistant Professor in May, 1989 and served in the same capacity before joining as Associate Professor (Plant Protection) in January, 1997 in the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He was promoted to Professor in Plant Protection in December 2005. He has been the Chairman of the Department for three terms and also Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural sciences for two terms, besides serving as officiating Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University in the absence of regular Vice-Chancellor at different intervals during the period June to August 2010, by virtue of being senior most Dean amongst Deans of the Faculties. He has also contributed his services to Aligarh Muslim University on being Ex- officio Member of the University Court, Executive and Academic Council, Discipline committee, as chairman Central Purchase Committee and other important committees. Dr. Rizvi has more than 29 years of teaching and research experience. As a teacher he has taught various courses in the field of Plant Protection at master?s level and also imparted teaching to PG diploma in Horticulture and Pest Management students. He is member of many scientific bodies/ organizations. He has 127 publications in national and international journals, proceedings of conferences/seminars/symposia. He has guided 08 research scholars for Ph.D. degree, 36 students for M.Sc dissertation/thesis work and 06 research scholars are currently registered under his guidance. He has participated in various national and international conferences/ symposia/workshops and training programs. He developed scientific linkage with prestigious educational and research organizations viz., Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi; Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur and National Centre for Integrated Pest Management, New Delhi for collaborative research. His research is focused on Ecological Entomology, Biological Control, and Integrated Pest Management for economically important pests of different crops viz., rice, pulses (chickpea, pigeon pea, green gram, and black gram), crucifers and vegetables (chili, okra, eggplant and tomato etc.).
