Dr. Pathan Taherkhan Husenkhan is the In-Charge of the Marathi Section, Department of Modern Indian Languages. For securing first rank in M.A. Marathi from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, he was awarded the Hon’ble Chancellor’s Gold Medal, the “Late Mrs. Laxmibai Baburaoji Jadhav Gold Medal,” along with ten university awards. He has been teaching Ph.D. coursework, postgraduate, and undergraduate classes in Marathi for more than 15 years, and has also supervised Ph.D. research scholars. His areas of research include Medieval Marathi Literature, Sant Literature, and Folk Literature. His research papers and articles have been published in journals of national and international repute. He has to his credit thirteen edited books. He received the Sant Namdev Award (State Level) in 2020 for editing the book Santsahityamimansa, as well as the Late Marotrao Karhale National Ideal Teacher Award – 2022.

He has convened 11 national conferences and one international conference. He is a member of the Board of Studies of the Department of Marathi at Banaras Hindu University, the Department of Marathi at Visva-Bharati, and Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad Arts, Science & Commerce College (an autonomous institution conferred autonomous status by the UGC).

He has delivered special lectures and keynote addresses at national and international seminars, as well as refresher and orientation courses. More than 350 students complete Marathi courses under his guidance every year.
