Faisal Alam is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India, and is also pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at Monash University, Australia. His research focuses on electric vehicle optimization, energy-aware route planning, and connected vehicular systems.
At AMU, he is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He has taught core computer science subjects including Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Advanced Software Engineering. His responsibilities include delivering lectures, designing and updating course curricula, evaluating student performance, developing assessment materials, and supervising student projects.
In addition to his academic work at AMU, Dr. Alam has held teaching roles at leading Australian universities. At Deakin University, he served as an Associate Lecturer, delivering lectures, workshops, and assessments in Cloud Native Application Development and Applied Software Engineering. He also contributed to curriculum design and student evaluation. At Monash University, he assisted in teaching Big Data Management and Processing, where he led lab sessions, developed assessment tools, and supported course delivery for large student cohorts.
He also brings over industry experience from leading technology companies. At Amazon India, he worked as a Software Development Engineer, building microservices for warehouse management and sales forecasting using AWS, Hadoop, and serverless architectures. At Oracle India, he contributed to the Oracle Business Intelligence suite, improving system scalability, query optimization, and cloud readiness using C++ and Java. At Tejas Networks, he developed automated testing tools for network protocols, ensuring quality and compliance in telecommunications software.
