Dr. Mohd Salim Mahtab has worked at the Civil Engineering Department (A.M.U.) since 2018. In 2016 and 2018, he received a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering and an M.Tech. in Civil (Environmental Engineering) from A.M.U. In 2023, he received a Ph.D. degree from the department. His research area includes advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) to treat complex wastewater, sludge and waste management, resource recovery and circular economy, and sustainable optimization.
He has an active research record with over 40 scientific publications, comprising 19 papers in international peer-reviewed/leading journals, 5 book chapters, and 17 international conference contributions. His work has accumulated 746 citations on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 12 and an i10-index of 12, reflecting strong research visibility. He has represented A.M.U. at numerous prestigious academic platforms, including international conferences and workshops. His research achievements also include one recently published Indian patent (2024). He maintains dynamic national and international research collaborations in the areas of wastewater treatment, RSM/ANN modelling, and environmental sustainability, leading to multiple high-impact joint publications with prominent research groups.
He has successfully supervised five M.Tech. dissertations and is presently guiding one additional M.Tech. candidate. Alongside his research activities, he teaches a broad range of core and elective civil engineering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing significantly to curriculum delivery, academic mentoring, and student development.
He received the prestigious International Travel Grant (ITG) from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), formerly SERB, to present his research at the “7th International Conference on Advanced Oxidation Processes” (IWA-AOP7_2025), held in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 8 to 10, 2025.
He is serving as an active Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio; Impact Factor: 3.9; Q1), contributing to peer review and editorial evaluation in his field of expertise.
