Dr. Mohd Moonis Zaheer is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, AMU since August 2016.

Dr. Moonis was on a three-year extraordinary leave (EOL) from February 2013 to August 2016. During that period, he worked at the Department of Building Engineering, College of Architecture and Planning,University of Dammam, Saudi ArabiaDuring his 3 years’ tenure in Saudi Arabia, he also served as a member of the Principal Accreditation Committee (NCAAA). He contributed to writing the Departmental Manual for the first time.

He did his B. Tech. in Civil Engineering (1994), M. Tech. in Structural Engineering (1996), and PhD in Offshore Structures (2010)He joined AMU in August 1996 as a Lecturer. He got promoted to Associate Professor in August 2016.

Dr. Moonis has 01 Patent and more than 60 research publicationsto his credit in various journals of repute, including the Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics (Elsevier),  Journal of Building Engineering (Elsevier), Arabian Journal of
Science and Engineering (Springer), Journal of Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier), KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering (Springer),  Journal of Advances in Structural Engineering (Sage), Journal of Ocean Engineering (Elsevier), Journal of Tall and Special Buildings (Wiley), Journal of Advances in Concrete Construction (Techno Press),  Journal of Fatigue and Fracture of Engineering Materials and Structures (Wiley).

He has reviewed papers of reputed International journals of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, Ocean Engineering, Building Engineering, etc. He has delivered 03 Keynote address as session chair in international conferences and FDPs. Dr. Moonis has more than 29 years of experience with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. He has supervised 02 PhD theses and 17 M. Tech. Dissertations so far. At present, 02 PhD students are working under his supervision.

Dr. Moonis's interest areas are Supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and Nano materials in concreteDurability of concrete, and dynamic analysis of offshore structuresHe is currently doing research on developing sustainable bricks using waste materials.

Notably, Dr. Moonis has served as the Assistant Dean Students Welfare (DSW), AMU from 2012 to 2013 (2 years) and as Warden in Sulaiman Hall, AMU for 04 years. Currently, serving as a faculty member in the category of Associate Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering.
