Competencies as per NCISM

Manafeul Aza (Human Physiology):–

(a) ability to understand and demonstrate physiological functions of the human body;

(b) understand, assess, evaluate and appraise the physiological aspects of Unani basic principles;


(c) comparative study between the body fluids and Akhlat;


(d) capable to understand and apply the Knowledge of biochemistry, bioinformatics and Unani biology of the Human body;

(e) to study the physiological variations of human body in different temperaments as per domination of Akhlat or Unani genomics;

(f) ability to carry out research in the various aspects of Manafeul Aza;

(g) ability to conduct or demonstrate physiological tests and experiments;

(h) able to correlate and translate Unani physiology on contemporary scientific lines;


(i) the Postgraduate degree holder in Manafeul Aza shall be the specialist in Manafeul Aza (Unani Physiologist).

Programme Objectives of the MD Program in Munafeul Aza are to: 

  • Prepare researchers who are well equipped with the basic understanding and knowledge of various research tools and methods and are capable to undertake research in the field of Unani medicine. 
  • Prepare potential teachers in the subject who are capable to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the field of Munafeul Aza. 


Programme Specific Objectives

1. To provide fundamental information in Genetics, Biostatistics and basic Unani principles. 

2. To provide high level of comprehension of major physiological systems of the body including their holistic view and how they interact, their malfunctions and translational aspect. 

3. To develop scientific temper, research acumen and ability to conduct and analyse Medical research in general and Unani Medical research in particular. 

4. To develop ability to orally communicate a research project and provide a critique of results of relevant research involving oral presentations of a student's research efforts or journal articles. 

5. To provide skills to measure various physiological parameters of the body. 

6. To inculcate the ability of self learning.



Program Outcomes (PO's) :

At the end of the programme, a student should be able to: 
1. Demonstrate the fundamental understanding of the structure of DNA, Chromosomes, DNA replication, Chromosomal Abrasions, Genetic disorders, Inborn errors of metabolism and Gene Therapy. 
2. Demonstrate the knowledge of Descriptive statistics, Sampling, Test of Significance, Parametric and Non-parametric tests.
3. Demonstrate competence in the fundamental Unani concepts of Mizaj, Akhlat, Aaza, Quwaa as well as in the area of Applied and clinical physiology. 
4. Write a research paper and research project and communicate the research project.
5. Measure, analyse and report various physiological and Biochemical measurements of the body like ECG, EEG, EMG, Blood analysis, Urine analysis, Spirometry, Blood chemistry etc. 
6. Search and find resource materials when needed.
