World Hemophilia Day’ 2026

World Hemophilia Day is an annual global healthcare event held on April 17th. It is observed to increase awareness about Hemophilia and related genetic bleeding disorders. The theme for this year's World Hemophilia Day is “Diagnosis: First Step to Care.  This theme addresses the critical need to identify the estimated over three-quarters of people with hemophilia worldwide who remain undiagnosed, aiming to improve access to diagnosis and timely treatment.  Dr. Ataullah Fahad, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Amraz, emphasized a complementary approach in managing Hemophilia. He stated that while modern clotting factor therapy is essential, Unani medicine offers supportive care through its concepts of Nazf-ud-Dam and Riqqat-e-Dam. He highlighted Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer and hemostatic Unani drugs like Gulnar and Samagh-e-Arabi for reducing bleeding tendencies. He also stressed the need for integrative research to strengthen safe and holistic patient care. In this regard under the guidance of Chairman, Department of Ilmul Amraz, a “Medical Quiz " was organized among the PG scholars of the Department of studies of Faculty of Unani Medicine on April 17, 2026. A total of 43 students registered for the event, showcasing a high level of engagement and academic interest. Dr. Bushra Siddiqui, Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, AMU, Aligarh, judged the event and transcended the quiz from its competitive format to an evolved academic masterclass and enriched each questions asked with profound pathological and clinical insights into Hemophilia care. Her ability to simplify the intricacies of clotting factor deficiencies while maintaining scientific rigor provided immense value to the participants and attendees alike. Following the Medical quiz, prizes were also distributed to the winner’s team by Dr. Ataullah Fahad, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Amraz to recognize their academic excellence.  The success of the event was made possible through the collective cooperation of all faculty members and the non-teaching staff of the department.

Guest lecture on “Histopathology of common lesions of the Gastro-intestinal tract”

Dept of Ilmul Amraz, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, AMU, Aligarh, organized a guest lecture on Histopathology of common lesions of the Gastrointestinal tract 06-05-2025 by Dr. Bushra Siddiqui, Assistant Professor, Dept of Pathology, JNMC, AMU, Aligarh, for the PG scholars. Dr. Siddique delves into the importance of Histopathology of common lesions of the G.I tract with an explanation of normal histology of the GI tract, focusing on the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, Colon & Appendix, and comparing it with diseased conditions. In the esophagus, she shared knowledge on normal vs metaplastic changes, especially Barrett’s Esophagus. She shared a key point on the differential diagnosis of GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) with Barrett’s esophagus. She stressed the importance of Blood tests (anti-endomysial antibodies, as well as specific antibodies against tissue transglutaminase) along with histopathological findings for the diagnosis of Coeliac Disease. She shared insights on acute appendicitis by explaining neutrophil cell infiltration up to the muscularis layer. Dr. Bushra kept us engaged throughout the session. She ended the lecture with a spotter also which was thought-provoking.

This session was chaired by Professor Irfan Ahmed, H.O.D Department of Mahiyatul Amraz, State Unani Medical College, Prayagraj. During this event, all the faculty members were present. Dr. Nida Sultana coordinated the program.

for this year's World Hemophilia Day is 'Access for All: Women and Girls Bleed Too.' Under

the guidance of Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim

University, and Chairman, Department of Ilmul Amraz, a guest lecture titled "Hemophilia"

was organized for postgraduate students in the Faculty of Unani Medicine on April 17, 2025.

Dr. Suhailur Rehman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Faculty of

Medicine, AMU, Aligarh, delivered the lecture. The session focussed on hemophilia and

other coagulation disorders including Von Willebrand disease and Glanzmann

thrombasthenia. He provided an in-depth analysis of hemophilia and also its clinical

perspective. He also explored the investigations advised to rule out the haemophilia and other

bleeding disorders and preventive measures including life style modification needed that can

help people with hemophilia to live normal and active life. Prof. F.S. Sherani, Chairman,

Department of Kulliyat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, A.M.U., Aligarh graced the occasion.

During this event,  Dr. Ataullah Fahad, Dr. S.M. Ahmer, Dr. Nida Sultana,

Dr. Mohsin Masood, Dr. Nabilah Khan, Dr. Mohd Mohsin, Dr. Nawalur Rehman, and Dr. Atika Hussain were present.

World Meditation Day 2024

The Department of Ilmul Amraz observed World Meditation Day on 21st December 2024 with great enthusiasm and active participation from teaching faculty, postgraduate (PG) scholars and non-teaching staff. The program aimed to promote mental well-being, stress management, and holistic health in alignment with the principles of preventive medicine emphasized in Unani philosophy.

The event commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of meditation in maintaining equilibrium of mind and body. The speakers emphasized how meditation complements the Unani concept of Tabiyat (the body's self-preservative power) and helps in restoring balance among humors.

A guided meditation session was conducted in a calm and focused environment, allowing participants to experience relaxation techniques, controlled breathing, and mindfulness practices. The session helped attendees understand practical ways to reduce stress, improve concentration, and enhance emotional stability.

Faculty members shared insights on the therapeutic benefits of meditation in managing psychosomatic disorders, anxiety, and lifestyle-related diseases. They also encouraged students and staff to incorporate meditation into their daily routine for better mental and physical health.

PG scholars actively participated in the session and contributed by sharing their experiences and perspectives on the importance of meditation in academic and clinical life. The non-teaching staff also engaged enthusiastically, making the program inclusive and impactful.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the department and the active participation of all attendees. Overall, the celebration of World Meditation Day served as a meaningful initiative to promote awareness about mental health and well-being within the institutional environment.

Constitution Day 2024

The Department of Ilmul Amraz commemorated Constitution Day on 26th November 2024 with great enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility. The programme was organized to honor the adoption of the Constitution of India and to promote awareness about its fundamental values, rights, and duties among students and staff.

The event witnessed active participation from the teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and postgraduate (PG) scholars of the department. The programme commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of Constitution Day and its relevance in shaping a democratic and inclusive society.

A collective reading of the Preamble of the Constitution was conducted, where all participants reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Faculty members delivered short talks emphasizing constitutional values, the importance of citizens' duties, and the role of healthcare professionals in upholding ethical and legal responsibilities.

PG scholars also contributed by sharing their perspectives on constitutional rights in relation to healthcare, patient care, and medical ethics. The discussions encouraged critical thinking and reinforced the importance of integrating constitutional principles into professional practice.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants in making the event meaningful and successful. The celebration served as a reminder of the guiding principles of the nation and inspired everyone to contribute responsibly towards society.

Overall, the Constitution Day celebration was informative and impactful, fostering awareness and respect for the constitutional framework among all attendees.

PG ORIENTATION PROGRAMME (TRANSFORMATION TO PROFICIENT SCHOLAR)

The Post-graduate Orientation Programme for Batch 2024 was successfully conducted from 17th February to 22nd February 2025 with the objective of familiarizing newly admitted postgraduate scholars with academic, clinical, and research aspects of their respective disciplines. The programme aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of curriculum structure, research methodology, laboratory practices, and professional ethics.

The event witnessed active participation from postgraduate students and faculty members. A series of lectures, demonstrations, and interactive sessions were delivered by distinguished resource persons including Prof. Ashhar Qadeer, Dr. Bushra Siddiqui, Dr. Syed Javed Ali, and Dr. Hafiz Iqtidar Ahmad.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session highlighting the importance of postgraduate education and research in Unani medicine and allied sciences. Subsequent sessions covered a wide range of topics including:

  • Introduction to postgraduate curriculum and academic regulations
  • Research methodology and dissertation writing
  • Laboratory techniques and equipment handling
  • Advances in diagnostic procedures
  • Clinical training and patient management
  • Use of modern technology in medical education
  • Ethical considerations in research and clinical practice

Each resource person contributed their expertise through lectures and interactive discussions, encouraging students to actively engage and clarify their doubts. Practical demonstrations and case-based discussions were also incorporated to enhance understanding and application of knowledge.

The orientation programme proved to be highly beneficial in preparing the students for their academic journey. It provided clarity regarding expectations, improved awareness of available resources, and motivated students to pursue excellence in research and clinical practice.

The programme concluded on 22nd February 2025 with a valedictory session, where feedback from participants was collected. The overall response was positive, reflecting the success of the programme in achieving its objectives.

Workshop on HbA1c

A workshop on Training of HbA1c Training Programme under “Operation & Maintenance of Laboratory Equipment” was successfully conducted on 19th February, 2025 by Dr. S. M. Ahmer as a Resource Person with technical assistance from Mr. Badal Khatri. The session focused on the principles, operation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for HbA1c testing, an important parameter in diabetes management. Participants gained hands-on experience and practical knowledge to ensure accurate testing, proper handling of instruments, and adherence to quality standards in laboratory practices.

Workshop on Training of Basics of Histopathological Tissue Processing

A workshop on Training of Basics of Histopathological Tissue Processing was conducted on 19th February, 2025 by Dr. Bushra Siddiqui as a Resource Person, with technical assistance from Mr. Hafeez Beg. The session covered fundamental techniques involved in tissue processing, including fixation, dehydration, embedding, sectioning, and staining. Participants were provided with hands-on training and practical insights to ensure accuracy, safety, and quality in histopathological laboratory procedures.

World Health Day 2025

Department of Ilmul Amraz observed World Health Day on 7th April, 2025. In this regard, a “Health Talk” was held among the P.G. Scholars of Department of Ilmul Amraz, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University, under the guidance of  Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean and Chairman, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.

P.G. students and U.G. students participated in this event.

Dr. Sehba Zaheer gave the brief description of "Health and its importance".

Dr. Tayyaba Naved spoke on "Spread of Pulmonary Tuberculosis & its Preventive Measures".

Dr. Nazia Riaz discussed on "Hepatitis –Its Causes and Prevention".

On this occasion, all the Faculty members and non-teaching staff of the department cooperated in making the program successful.

National Anaemia Day 2025

Department of Ilmul Amraz observed National Anaemia Day on 21  March , 2025  . In this regard,  a “Medical quiz” was held among the PG scholars of the all Department of studiesAjmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University, under the guidance of  Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean and Chairman, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Sixteen students participated in the event. Prpublicationizes were also distributed to the winners by Prof. Ubaidullah Khan. On this occasion, all the Faculty members and non-teaching staff of the department cooperated in making the program successful.publication

Invited Guest Lecture on How To Interpret CBC

The Department of Ilmul Amraz, Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU organised a guest lecture for P.G Scholars, which was delivered by Prof. Sayeedul Hasan Arif from the Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU on the topic “How to interpret CBC” on 19.10.2024 at 11:30 P.M in the P.G Seminar.

Faculty members of the department of Ilmul Amraz, other faculty members of JNMC and the P.G Scholars attended this lecture.

Swachchata Pakhwada with the theme 'Swachchata Hi Sewa' (SHS)-2023, a massive cleanliness drive was celebrated in the Department of Ilmul Amraz on 23 Sept. -2 Oct., 2023. 

During this period, the cleanliness drive was done. The students and the staff members were motivated and awareness among them towards cleanliness.
