RESEARCH LAB

PG Lab

CAD/SIMULATION LAB 

The Department has well maintained Computer Lab with Desktops and high speed server and workstation. The lab is equipped with following important Design/Simulation software.

The software is licensed and the Department follows standard procedure of procurement and usage .The Lab is used for teaching/learning and also provides training platform for Research and Development activities. Lab has also been used for holding workshops and training programs.


ADVANCED CHEMICAL ENGINEERING LAB

This lab consist of Experiments in different areas of Chemical Engineering such as Unsteady State heat transfer reaction engineering Teaching setup combined Flow reactor Simulation of milling operations Rotary and packed bed Dryer, Heat pipe trickle bed Reactor  etc

UG Lab


FLUID MECHANICS LAB:

This lab consist of the experiments related to fluid flow phenomena. It has following experiments: Bernoulli's apparatus, Orifice and Venturi meter, Pitot tube, Capillary flow Viscometer, efflux time of tank, characteristics of Centrifugal pump , Flow Through annulus, Straight Circular Tube,

Helical and  Spiral Coil.

MECHANICAL OPERATIONS LAB:

Various experimental facilities are available for the study of different fluid particle operations including size reduction,  conveying of solid. This lab houses Closed Circuit Grinding Mill , ball mill, jaw crusher, pulveriser, plate and frame,Rotary drum vacuum and Leaf filter press, gravity thickening, sedimentation Tank

HEAT TRANSFER LAB

The Heat Transfer lab provide practical training to the students on different heating and cooling systems of  various configuration e.g. Shell and Tube, Double pipe heat exchangers and evaporative systems  boiling, condensation and natural

convective systems etc.

MASS TRANSFER LAB:

The Mass Transfer Lab provides training to the students on different aspect of mass transfer phenomena such as Batch and Rotary drying ,S-L, and L-L extraction Binary and differential distillation Solid Dissolution  , Cooling Tower  etc

REACTION ENGINEERING and THERMODYNAMICS LAB:

This lab provides practical training on several reaction engineering equipment which include RTD studies in a single CSTR, a series of CSTRs, and Tubular reactor; kinetics of fluid solid reaction, Plug flow reactor and Batch reactor

PROCESS DYNAMICS & CONTROL  LAB:

Process Control and Instrumentation Laboratory consist of the experiments related to Process dynamics e.g. dynamics of liquid level (both interacting and non interacting(,evacuation system and thermometer , and control and provide the basic knowledge of instruments such as Level measurement, Temperature measurement, Flow measurement, Pressure measurements etc. The students also get familiarity with controllers such as PID controller, Temperature Control System and Multi Process Control System ,Triangular Simulator widely used in the Chemical Industries

TECHNOLOGY & ENERGY LAB:

Chemical process research and development is recognized as a key function during the commercialization of a new product particularly in the generic and contract manufacturing arms of the chemical, agro-chemical, food industries and pharmaceutical industries. In this laboratory, the students are familiarized with experiments such as extraction of edible oil, essential oil, cement analysis, probing milk adulteration, dehydration of fruits & vegetables, making of bio-diesel and polymer resins etc.
