HEALTH CAMP
ALIGARH, September 13:The Department of Amraz-e-Jild-wa-Zohrawia (Dermatology and Venereology), Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in collaboration with the NSS AMU Unit and Muskan Public School, Maulana Azad Nagar, organized a free medical camp for the underprivileged sections of society.
The camp received an overwhelming response, with nearly 180 patients availing themselves of free consultations and medicines. A dedicated team of faculty consultants and MD scholars from the department conducted detailed examinations and provided specialized treatment for various skin and venereal ailments.
The camp was inaugurated by Mr Mohsin Khan, Coordinator, NSS AMU, and Mrs Parveen Mukhtar, noted social activist and reformer, in the presence of doctors, faculty members, volunteers, and community representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan stressed the importance of extending healthcare services beyond institutional walls, while Mrs Mukhtar lauded the initiative as a meaningful intervention for those who otherwise lack access to quality medical facilities.
Faculty members observed that the camp not only benefitted patients but also offered medical scholars valuable exposure to grassroots healthcare challenges. The initiative was warmly welcomed by local residents, who expressed gratitude to AMU for addressing community health needs.

AMU Organises Free Skin Disease Medical Camp to Commemorate Hakeem Abdul Hameed’s Legacy Through an Outreach Programme
ALIGARH, July 23: To mark the 25th death anniversary of the renowned Unani physician and visionary, Late Hakeem Abdul Hameed, founder of Jamia Hamdard University and Hamdard Laboratories, and former Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a free Medical Camp on Skin Diseases was organised by the Department of Amraze Jild wa Zohrawia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), AMU, in association with the All India Unani Tibbi Conference (AIUTC), Uttar Pradesh Chapter.
Held at Madrasa Muaz bin Jabal, Wadi-e-Ismail, Dhorra, Aligarh, the camp was inaugurated by Mr. Sagheer Ahmad, a distinguished alumnus of AMU (1970 batch) and noted figure in social and medical service. On this occasion, he also donated essential instruments for treatment and research to the host department.
Prof. Ferasat Ali, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, and Prof. Badrudduja, Principal, AKTC, also addressed the gathering. They emphasized public awareness, hygiene, and early medical intervention as key tools in managing seasonal and common health issues. Both encouraged the youth to adopt health-conscious practices.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Dr. Mohammad Mohsin, Chairman of the Department and Secretary of AIUTC (UP Chapter), spoke on the prevention of contagious skin diseases during the monsoon season, highlighting the importance of personal hygiene, particularly for students residing in hostels or shared accommodations.
Speaking on behalf of AIUTC, he also paid rich tribute to Hakeem Abdul Hameed, calling him a pioneer of Modern Unani Medicine in post-independence India, and urged the Unani medical community to uphold his ideals in education, research, and patient care.
A team of Unani physicians, including Dr. Danish, Dr. Ariz Ayub, Dr. Abdul Hadi, Dr. Monis, and Dr. Riyaz Alamprovided consultations and treatment for various skin ailments. Free diagnostic investigations and medications were made available on-site for all patients.
The camp concluded with heartfelt appreciation from the madrasa administration and local residents, who lauded the efforts of the doctors and organisers.
