Polymer and Coating Technology Section

Polymers are widely used advanced materials, which are found almost in every material used in our daily life. To date, the importance of polymers has been much more highlighted because of their applications in different dominions of sciences, technologies and industry from basic uses to biopolymers and therapeutic polymers.

Almost all industries require chemists in one regard or the other. They may play numerous crucial job roles in industries like Polymers, Paints, Rubber, Petrochemicals, Plastic & Fibers, and Fertilizers etc.

In today's world, almost every material is being replaced with polymers or plastics because of their low cost, lightweight ease of processability, mechanical strength, toughness etc. They are used in almost all domains of life. Elastomers, fibres, plastics and resins are all different types of polymers depending upon their physical and mechanical properties.

The current workforce is short as well as not properly trained in order to cope with the growing demand. Thus there is a great opportunity for Polymer and Coating professionals in the growing industrial sector. The mission is to develop skills by providing excellent training, in-depth knowledge and adequate field exposure to the students (B. Voc. and M. Voc.) so that they may attain some responsible positions in Polymer Industries. Courses offered at Polymer and Coating Technology Section are

  4. B. Voc. (Hons.) Degree in Polymer & Coating Technology (NSQF Level-8)

  5. M. Voc. Degree in Polymer & Coating Technology (NSQF Level-9)


Program Specific objectives Objectives (PSO's):

After completion of the program,

  1. Graduates will acquire scientific skills in the field of Polymer synthesis, processing and Coatings to pursue their higher studies and research in the field of Polymer & Coating Technology.

  2. Graduates will learn practical and technical skills to conduct Polymer synthesis & processing in laboratories with standard safety and handling of sophisticated instruments.

  3. Graduates will learn professional ethics, Entrepreneurship qualities, responsibilities, leadership qualities, and the importance of teamwork.

  4. Understand the fundamental concepts of Polymer, Rubber technology, Coating Technology that they have learned from theory classes and practical laboratories.

  5. Understand the importance of ethical responsibility to do quality work and the needs of safety gear when doing chemical reactions and handling instruments.

  6. Will able to handle the problems of Polymers, Paints, Rubber, Petrochemicals, Plastic & Fibers, and Fertilizers industries through design & development of new protocols of new products with better quality and lower cost.

  7. To be hired for higher positions in Polymer & Coating, R& D Labs, Research and Educational Institutes.

  8. Will acquire professional ethics, responsibilities, leadership qualities, and the importance of teamwork.

  9. Will communicate with others, make effective presentations, and write scientific reports and documents.

  10. Will have sufficient research aptitude to handle their future doctoral work as well as in industries or institutes.
