05-DEC-2015: Writer and academic, Professor Purushottam Agarwal recently did a 'book reading session' at the Aligarh Muslim University of his unreleased book, 'NACOHAS' an acronym used for imaginary 'National Commission of Hurt Sentiments'.
The book reading session was organized by the University Cultural Educational Centre at the Cultural Hall of Maulana Azad Library. Prof Agarwal's book is scheduled to release in 2016.
While informing the audience that NACOHAS is a satire on oppression of free speech and expression, Prof Agarwal said that the book doesn't need to be in the news but it definitely needs to be in understanding.
During an interactive session with AMU students and teachers, Prof Agarwal said, "India is a great idea and it needs to be preserved which is why I wrote this novel".
He further said that this is the first reading session of his book and he would travel all over to create an understanding of the idea behind the book.
Prof Agarwal has authored Kabir: Sakhi aur Sabad, Shivdan Singh Chauhan, Mazbooti Ka Naam Mahtma Gandhi, Nij Brahma Vichhar, Vichaar ka Ananta, Teesra Rukh, Varchswa aur Pratiroadh along with other books. He is also a poet and author of many short stories. He contributes regularly to academic journals and popular magazines on wide-ranging issues of culture, literature and current affairs.
Prof Agarwal is also a political commentator and former member of Union Public Service Commission.
