31-MAR-2016: Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, delivered an invited guest lecture on "Professionalism in Thesis Writing" at Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, AMU.
Dr. Abdul Latif, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia, informed that the lecture was a part of series of lectures started under the UGC-DRS Programme under SAP-II.
Dr. Rahman shared his research experiences in Australia and elaborated the significance of thesis work, level of research work expected in postgraduation and PhD, mandatory chapters and sections, how to focus on each chapter of the thesis, common problems faced by the candidate, how to defend one's thesis and what examiners looked for in the thesis. He also explained what candidates should expect from their supervisors, importance of IT such as knowledge of MS Words in making the list of contents, plagiarism-checker software and bibliography making software such as i-authenticate, EndNote, respectively.
Introducing the speaker, Dr. Abdur Rauf, Assistant Professor, Department of Ilmul Advia, said that Dr. Rahman is the only teacher in the JN Medical College with a foreign PhD. He completed his PhD in Pharmacology at School of Medicine, University of Western Sydney, Australia. He played significant role in the establishment of alternatives to animal experimentation lab after withdrawal of animal experimentation for teaching and learning by UGC, MCI and CPCSEA Committee. He is the Fellow of CMCL-FAIMER, International Medical Sciences Academy and National Academy of Medical Science.
A large number of PG scholars and teachers participated and interacted in the post-lecture discussion.
