DSW invites students for Sir Syed's bicentenary celebrations and Global AMU Alumni Meet
Aligarh, October 9: The Dean Students Welfare (DSW) and Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Prof Jamshed Siddiqui has invited students on behalf of AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor and university administration to attend the grand birth bicentenary celebrations of university founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on October 17, 2017 at the University Athletics Ground and the Global AMU Alumni Meet on October 15-16, 2017 at the Kennedy Auditorium.
In the invite, Prof Siddiqui confirmed that former President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has consented to grace the occasion as the chief guest. He added that the university will honour Prof David Lelyveld and Justice MSA Siddqui with the international and national 'Sir Syed Excellence Awards' on the occasion. He also announced that the winners of 'Sir Syed Memorial Essay Competition' will also be felicitated on the day.
Prof Siddiqui said that the bicentenary celebrations of Sir Syed have been diligently planned for the Sir Syed Day Commemoration Meet and it will be the culmination of the year long Sir Syed bicentenary celebrations.
Emphasising the importance of Global Alumni Meet, Prof Siddiqui said that it is an opportunity for students to be at an interface with the AMU Alumni as they will converge from all parts of the world.
He concluded the invite by saying that AMU looks forward to your (student's) presence in solidarity with the university founder to give AMU Tarana (anthem) a cheer like never before and impress the guests with AMU culture.
