27-OCT-2017: JNMC Prof?s innovative Ty-Raps technique presented by M.Ch students in Srinagar
Aligarh, October 27: Ever wondered if a gash on forehead or deep wound on hands or legs could fill in naturally without being sewn, stapled or glued shut; Professor Imran Ahmad from the Department of Plastic Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has an innovative method which will bring skin back to normal without the need of sutures.
His method of using Ty-Raps, a novel closing technique of extremity fasciotomy wounds has been widely appreciated as a remedy which is particularly very helpful to poor patients.
Based on Prof Imran?s Ty-Raps method, M.Ch (Master in Plastic surgery) students of JNMC won top accolades for their paper and poster presentations at the 13th North Zone Association of Plastic Surgeon of India Conference (NZAPSICON-2017) held at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
While Dr Brajesh Pathak under the supervision of Prof Imran Ahmad won the 1st prize for his paper presentation on topic of ?lower extremity wound closure by using Top Closure: An Innovative Top Closure??; Dr Sudheer Kumar Maurya under the supervision of Prof M Yaseen (Chairperson, Department of Plastic Surgery) and Dr Fahad Khurram won the Best Poster Presentation Award on the topic of ?Reverse posterior interosseous artery flap: A reliable and comfortable method for coverage of soft tissue defect of hand.?
Meanwhile, Dr Sheikh Sarfraz Ali and Dr Tafuzul Sheikh who also participated in the conference presented their posters and papers at the conference. Their presentations were widely appreciated by delegates from all over the country, who were attending the programme.
These M.Ch students received certificates, mementoes and cash prizes for presenting Ty-Raps based remedies.
