Dr Kohkan Shamsi delivers lecture on ?Clinical Trials and Drug Discovery?
Aligarh, November 2: Aligarh Open University (AOU) in collaboration with Aligarh Medical Alumni Association of North America (AMAANA) organised a lecture by Dr Kohkan Shamsi on a topic ?Clinical Trials and Drug Discovery? at the Department of Pharmacology for postgraduate students of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Dr Shamsi discussed various phases of clinical trials while providing students with clear understanding of Randomised Clinical Trials (RCTs) principles.
He delineated on key issues to be considered while designing, conducting, analysing and reporting, with a focus on major clinical trials influencing clinical practice.
Dr Shamsi also shared his experiences of clinical trials which were done for efficacy of drugs and diagnostic agents through medical imaging. He discussed perspectives of public sector research and the pharmaceutical industry.
While introducing the guest speaker, Prof Syed Ziaur Rahman (Coordinator, AOU), who has more than 25 years of clinical development experience for drugs and devices said that Dr Shamsi can deliver comprehensive education and training to students in the area of medical imaging for pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech clinical trials through ?Blinded Reader and Investigator Training Institute? (BRITI).
Prof K C Singhal, Prof Rahat Ali Khan, Prof MU Rabbani, Prof Asif Hasan, Prof M Khalid, Prof Ibne Ahmad, Prof Mohammad Nasiruddin, Prof Shagufta Moin, Dr Salman Shah, Dr Saifullah Khalid and Dr Nafis Faizi were also present in the lecture which was attended by post graduate students.
