03-NOV-2017: AMU Vice Chancellor inaugurates Simulation Lab in JNMCH
Aligarh, November 2: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor inaugurated the ?Simulation Lab? of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH) during a special function held at the medical college.
On the occasion, Prof Mansoor said that simulation is entrenched in medical education all over the world and since experiential learning is the need of the hour, medical education is adapting patient-centric curriculum.
He added that today medical colleges give hands-on-training on the application of knowledge. ?Medical students today learn not only by reading, but they are taught to do medical procedures on manikins before performing on real patients,? said Prof Mansoor. The Vice Chancellor also congratulated the JNMCH doctors and staff for putting up the necessary hard work in setting up the technologically advanced simulation lab.
?With this simulation lab, JNMCH will move a step ahead in developing new teaching methodologies in the field of medical education,? said Prof Amanullah Khan adding that since the patient's safety is paramount, simulation becomes the most important modality.
Prof Syed Moied Ahmed (Acting Chairperson, Department of Anaesthesia and co-ordinator of the Simulation Lab) said that the simulation lab facility will help students to receive basic and advanced skills training on manikins. He added that the students will be trained better for various non-invasive procedures. Prof Ahmed pointed out that an advisory and core committee of energetic, talented and spirited faculties has been formed for the simulation lab.
