Sir Ross Masood Hall organises symposium on ?Sir Syed and Allama Iqbal?
Aligarh, November 30: Sir Ross Masood Hall, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a symposium on ?Sir Syed and Allama Iqbal? to mark the Urdu Day celebrations.
Presiding over the function, Prof Shan Mohammad (Former Director, Urdu Academy) discussed the contributions of Sir Syed and his work as a reformer.
The chief-guest, Prof Mohammad Zahid (Dean, Faculty of Arts) pointed out that Sir Syed and Allama Iqbal used Urdu as the lingua franca for communicating with the masses.
The guest-of-honour, Dr Mufti Zahid Ali Khan (Associate Professor, Department of Sunni Theology) urged students to use original resources for their research. Dr Amrita Singh (AMU Alumna and Deputy Director, Minority Welfare and Waqf Aligarh Division) also attended the function as a guest-of-honour.
Mr Nafis Ahmad (Provost) welcomed the guests, while Mr Iqbal Ahmad (Warden in-charge) proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Parvez Aalam conducted the programme.
Mohd Zaid Rais, Saddam Rain, Faisal Malik, Shahzaib Bilal, Masroor Alam, Sheikh Saud and Saba Anas worked tirelessly to make the programme successful.
Earlier the Ross Masood Hall also organised essay-writing and poetry competitions.
