Guru Granth Sahib basic text of linguistic and cultural affinity: Prof Shafey Kidwai
ALIGARH December 13: ?Gurubanis in the Guru Granth Sahib urge the believers to remain united despite the diversities of various nature?, said Professor Shafey Kidwai, Member Incharge of the Public Relations Office, Aligarh Muslim University, while addressing the inaugural session of a seminar on ?Sant Vani and Our Times?, organized by the Punjabi Academy of Uttar Pradesh.
Prof Kidwai said that Guru Granth Sahib is held as the basic text of multi-linguistic and multicultural affinity that teaches people to desist from all kinds of animosity and personal ill will.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof Manjeet Singh, Chairman, Department of Hindi, University of Delhi said that the relevance of the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib is growing and remedy for all social ills in present day Indian society lies in Gurubanis.
Noted folk artist from Punjab, Mr Vinod presented the sayings of various Gurus including saints Farid, Kabir and Namdev.
Prof Asim Siddiqui, Prof T N Satheesan, Dr Tahir Pathan, Advocate Hari Narayan Singh, Prof Prem Kumar, Sardar Iqbal Singh and Mr Paramjit Singh Pammi were present on the occasion.
Programme Convener, Dr Kranti Pal said that the Punjabi Academy has decided to organize a series of programmes on the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib in different cities to propagate the message of religious and cultural syncretism.
