BBC selects AMU students for internships
Aligarh, December 13: The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has selected Syed Talha Ali and Sana Shahab, IIIrd semester students of the M A in Language of Advertising Media and Market (LAMM) course in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for internship programmes.
Dr Mohammad Jahangeer Warsi (Coordinator, LAMM course), who has a 15-year teaching experience of various US based universities, said that it is a matter of great pride that these students will have experience of BBC on the curriculum-vitae.
Dr Warsi added that the basic idea of LAMM is to look closely into the use of language in various domains of media. ?It is imperative to provide practical knowledge to students and a BBC work-experience will provide with details on how language is used in the main-stream media,? he added.
He pointed out that under the leadership of AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor, this course will become more viable attracting jobs from the world over.
MA LAMM, which is an independent course, run in the Department of Linguistics is one of newer courses of the university. A Phd in LAMM has also been recently introduced.
