26-APR-2018: Prof T N Satheesan?s Aligadh Malayalam released
ALIGARH/KOZHIKODE April 26: Aligadh Malayalam, a Malayalam book edited by Prof T N Satheesan, Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University was released at a function held at Kozhikode, Kerala. Prof T B Venugopala Panicker, renowned Dravidian linguist and former head, Department of Malayalam, Calicut University, released the book and presented a copy to Prof V K Abdul Jaleel, former Registrar of AMU.
In his presidential remarks, noted Malayalam critic, Prof M N Karassery, former Visiting Professor at the Institute of Persian Research, AMU, said that Aligadh Malayalam is a unique book providing detailed information about the multilayered social and cultural heritage of the Aligarh Muslim University. He said that language studies are important to preserve human values and culture and should be encouraged at all levels.
Dr K V Thomas, Dr Shafeek, Dr Hikmathulla, Dr Sheeja KP Kabeer, Thajmal, Bibin Antony, Bijesh and others shared their experiences on AMU campus.
Earlier, Prof T N Satheesan welcomed the guests and introduced the book. He said that Aligadh Malayalam is a positive effort to document the history of Malayalam studies at Aligarh Muslim University over the last 57 supported with memories of its alumni.
The book, published by Poorna Publications, Kozhikode, includes articles by Prof P K Abdul Azis, former Vice Chancellor, AMU, Prof V K Abdul Jaleel, former Registrar, AMU, Dr M A Yusuff Ali, Managing Director, Lulu Group, Mr Ameer Ahmad, Managing Director, Manappat Associates, Mr P K Abdu Rabb, Former Education Minister of Kerala, Mr Punathil Kunhabdulla, Prof M N Karassery, Padmasree Dr Vellayani Arjunan?s first lecture of Malayalam in 1961, Prof K A Koshy, Prof T N Satheesan, Prof A Nujum and former teachers and alumni.
