01-OCT-2018: Prof Mohammad Aslam delivers talk on 'Chronic Limb Ulcers and their Management'
Aligarh, October 1: Prof Mohammad Aslam, Chairperson, Department of Surgery, J N Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) delivered a talk on 'Chronic Limb Ulcers and their Management' at the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi during its 'Surgery Update 2018,' the 36th National Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme in surgery.
Discussing, Chronic Limb Ulcers as a major health issue; Prof Aslam emphasised that chronic ulcers occur because of venous, arterial, diabetic and of neuropathic origins and their management is evidence based and the treatment requires multidisciplinary teams of general surgeons, vascular surgeons, plastic surgeons, physiotherapists and wound-care nurses.
Prof Aslam pointed out that ulcers become chronic when healing doesn't occurs after months of appropriate treatment. However, treatment is possible in early weeks of developing these ulcers by closing faulty veins, he added.
Prof Aslam emphasised that there is a striking advancement in the dressings offered to chronic ulcers patients depending upon the wound characteristics.
Academicians, doctors and other delegates from all over the country and abroad attended the CME.
