05-MAY-2019: AMU student pulls off stunning show at National Shooting Championship
Aligarh, May 5: Tuba Junaid, a second-year, B A (English) student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has made a mark at the national level by pulling off a stunning show, finishing 12th at the 62nd National Shooting Championship Competitions (Big Bore) in 300 metres Rifle Prone Junior at Mhow, Indore district, Madhya Pradesh.
With the achievement, Tuba has been notified as a 'Renowned Shooter' in India by the National Rifle Association of India.
Bristling with confidence, Tuba was highly accurate with a score of 535 in the individual event.
Tuba's career as a shooter is exemplary as she just trained for three-months with Mr Yasir Khan (AMU alumnus and national level shooter) for the competition.
After the big breakthrough, Tuba wants to inspire other AMU students. "There is an explosion of success that Indian shooting is currently experiencing as Saurabh Chaudhary, Manu Bhaker and Anish Bhanwala have become household names for their performances at junior and senior levels. I would like to inspire AMU students to make careers in this sport to bring laurels to their alma mater and the nation."
Tuba added that she wants to represent India at the Olympics and other international events.
