I am Dr. Shahrukh Ahmad, a Civil Engineer with a B.Tech, M.Tech (Environmental Engineering), and a PhD from IIT Kanpur. My research spans sustainable water and wastewater treatment, resource recovery, and environmental biotechnology — including algal–bacterial photobioreactors and microalgae-based systems for nutrient and contaminant removal from secondary-treated domestic wastewater. I investigate process controls such as light intensity, pH, shear and inorganic carbon, and I am interested in scaling, modeling, and integrating treatment with circular-economy principles and climate-resilient infrastructure. I have run laboratory experiments, and enjoy teaching and mentoring students through applied problem-solving and modern lab demonstrations.
