- Publication MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY Teaching Mathematics is a challenging ,yet rewarding endeavor. The students enter the classroom with various learning styles , family backgrounds , attitudes etc. I believe the teacher is responsible for making the students feel comfortable to ask questions in the classroom. The teacher must act as a parent , coach , advisor, counselor and a friend in the classroom. Teachers should also teach other things except mathematics such as social skills including respect others , hard-work , honesty and dedication. According to me , a good teacher to be one who : 1 Listens his/her students 2 Show multiple ways of solving a problem 3 Questions each of the students for engaging them 4 Allow to ask the questions frankly 5 Never hurts the students 6 Believes in students 7 Believes that all students can learn mathematics 8 Making learning mathematics fun and interesting 9 Tries to have good relationship with staff and administrators Often times I think teachers are so concerned with completing the book only and forget about teaching of understanding. We need to teach mathematics for understanding . we need to involve the daily experience in mathematics that can make the students understand the topic in the class. During teaching in the class I always try to include many of the points I listed above.
