Outreach Programme of the Department
1. As part of the outreach programme, the CAS in History plans to invite a number of scholars, both from within and outside the country as Visiting Fellows, to deliver specialised lectures and interact with the students and Research Scholars.
2. The Department also intends to organize a three day Seminar on "Modern Trends in Historiography of Medieval India". The Seminar is scheduled tentatively for May 2012 or thereafter, depending on the availability of funds. In view of the fact that we have only Rs.25,000/- available under the head "Seminars" of the Recurring grant we would need some other source of funding. We will, of course, approach ICHR and some other funding authorities to bring this Seminar to fruition.
3. In order to acquaint our staff and research students in classical Persian used in Medieval Indian texts, as well as in the various medieval scripts in which the documents and manuscripts are written, the Centre proposes a Workshop to be conducted by relevant experts. The Embassy and Cultural Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi has promised to provide us expertise in the field. This workshop is proposed to be held in the forthcoming Academic Session.
