Capacity Building Programme for Faculty Members in Commerce and Social Sciences

A two weeks Capacity Building Programme For Faculty Members In Commerce And Social Sciences have been organized by the Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh from September 11th -24th, 2014, sponsored by ICSSR, MHRD, New Delhi . The Course Directors of the programme are Prof. Mohd Mohsin Khan and Dr. Asiya Chaudhary.
The objective of this workshop is develop research capabilities among young faculties and to turn completed research into publishable material in the form of journal articles/books, specifically, to develop capacity for conceptualizing and writing research proposals. The programme also aims at improving research skills and competence of the young social scientists to undertake research. The course also introduces applied statistics such as descriptive statistics, correlations, regression analysis, factor analysis, principal component, ethnography and uses & applications of computers and relevant software for researches in social science.
Ten days Training Course on "RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES FOR DOCTORAL SCHOLARS" held between 14th to 25th 2013, Sponsored by Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR).
Prof. Shahid Siddiqui, New York (USA) visited the Department and deliver a lecture on "INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS" on 07.01.2013.
MTA (Master of Tourism Administration), Department of Commerce is celebrating World Tourism Day on 26th September, 2013. Mr. Bhat Shabir, MTA Alumnus, Deputy Director (J&K Tourism) will be the Chief Guest. The Vice-Chancellor will preside over the function. The event is being co-ordinated by Dr. Sheeba Hamid, TPO, (M.T.A.), Department of Commerce. The programme is partially sponsored by Dreamers Multimedia Company, Centre Point, Aligarh.

The Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameeruddin Shah inaugurated the GDS Amaedus Ticketing Software Training Programme started for the students of Master of Tourism Administration in the Department of Commerce. This training was aimed at equipping the students with the most requisite computer skills demanded in travel and tourism industry. This training was organized in agreement with Bird Academy, Delhi, which conducted forty hours of training for the students from 11th February, 2013 to 15th February, 2013. Thereafter, a test was conducted and on passing that test with flying colours, students were awarded certificates Mr. Subhobroto Chatterjee, the trainer from Bird Academy, Delhi, stayed on campus for the said period. The Training was organized of MTA. Prof. Javed Alam Khan, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Prof. S.U. Farooqi, Chairman, Department of Commerce, Prof. badar Alam Iqbal and all other teachers were present on the occasion.
